Last night I had an opportunity to shoot the 4 games in the NorCal Boys Volleyball Division IV Simi-finals - What a series. Was lots of fun to shoot the games using my Z9 and both the 24-100mm f4 and the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6. Post went very well and added a little touch of Topaz De-noise. Hope you enjoy

Thanks Paul - Finals are this afternoon - I suspect the action to be every bit as tough

Excellent shots, what were your iso and ss for those 2 lens? I'm usually around f/2.8 for indoor volleyball and my iso at times is high at ss 1000-1250.

These are NOT f2.8 lenses; they are a Z 24-120mm f4 S and a Z 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 S lens. I shot the 24-120 at f4, 1/1000, AUTO WB & ISO. The Z 100-400mm S lens I shot at 1/1000 different stops depending on the focal length, and AWB and ISO on AUTO. Ran all in LRCC and Topaz DNAI.

I hope that is some help

Sorry my question didn't come across correctly, I do understand that your lens are not f/2.8 but f/4 or f/4.5-5.6. I was curious what your SS was for your pictures, which you just indicated was 1/1000 but even though you have it on auto ISO, it does have a range (that you manually set in one of your menu's) to lets say 100 to 12800 (ex.). Your picture information (EXIF) will have the actual ISO that your camera chose with your SS and Fstop setting. In the Fall season I shot girls volleyball at f/2.8, ss from 1/1000 to 1/1250 and auto ISO but the ISO's the camera chose for exposure was anywhere from 5000 to 12800. Just curious what your ISO was at f/4 or f/4.5-5.6 for your Z9?

Thanks,
Rick

The 24-100mm f4 Auto ISO varied depending on where I was in the Gym from 1,250 to 11,400 ISO; the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 Auto ISO varied from 10,000 - 12,800. I shot 3 games, 5/10, 5/19, and 5/21 all in the same gym. I am use to this gym. I shoot a lot of basketball in that gym. They have some lights out on the one end and it makes the camera whether it was my Z6II with the 24-100, or the Z9 with either lens really move the ISO up. Of course I will expect that in football season I'll see the same high ISO's. I know last Football season I had a D5 and occasionally used my 200-500mm f4.5-5.6 and the ISO was pretty bad with that combination. Any way we'll see how these lenses react in stadium lights this FALL.

Nice work here. Can't beat Topaz to clean up images.
