Yay Subaru. We’re on our 4th looking into a 5th. On my trips to/from Florida in my 2018 Legacy, I get an average of 32 mpg. With the 18.5 gallon tank, I can, and have, gone well over 500 miles. Average trip to FL takes 2&1/2 tanks.

I love our Subaru Outback. Just completed a road trip from Seattle to Salt Lake City and back, trying to get off the interstate as much as possible. I drove approximately 2,300 miles on the trip and averaged 31.2 mpg. On the interstates for this trip much of the time speed limit was 75-80 mph, so there was some higher speed driving and many, many stops on the off inter-state roads for photos. Overall, very pleased with the mileage.

I have a thirteen year old Skoda Superb two litre diesel automatic and I get 50-55 miles to the gallon of diesel, informally diesel in the UK is £1.76 per litre and if I were to drive in London I would have to £27 per day because the London manor does not like diesel cars especially the age of my car.
In the car fitted as standard is a filter that stops the immissions that diesel cars are condemned for.
I moved out of London nine years ago and would never ever go
back in fact I will not buy anything from shops or businesses that are in London even online.

Just got my PTO, Permission To Operate, from NGrid. No more electric bills and my EV will also be solar charged. If there’s enough production capacity I’ll ditch my oil boiler and install high efficiency reverse cycle heat pumps. No more dinossauros juice!

I've long been a proponent pf solar energy but it has to be practical and make economic sense. I'm intrigued by those who think that solar electric generation can supply all their energy needs.. How many acres of solar panels do you envision will be required to power your home and auto.

From what I've heard, having your roof covered with panels will supply your house and produce extra. We have to decide the best way to use our land. Solar panels work all day. Look at golf courses and sports stadiums. They occupy huge pieces of land and produce only occasional usefulness.

I wonder where all this new electricity is going to come from as we move over to electric cars? Currently here in the US, 23% of electricity is produced by burning COAL, so you can kiss off clean air. Also, coal production this past year has decreased 30%!

People who get in fender benders with Teslas sometimes have to wait six months or more for car parts because Tesla never really thought through the need for them. They’re just focused on making NEW cars. And how about those lithium shortages for new batteries? And how about the lack of adequate electric charging stations along the highways, necessitating some folks to wait 30-60 minutes in line to even get to charging their car? Can’t wait to start hearing the griping in a few years once folks have to spend $12,000 - $20,000 to change their car batteries.
Yes, EV’s are the future, but all you EV owners currently out there are in effect “early adapters” to this new technology, whether you realize it or not. Lots of issues to be ironed out before it’ll go mainstream.
I think it’ll be just in time for my next life.

That's going to be a major hurdle, and China is the king of lithium right now. There is no simple solution to life on earth - there are no magic alternatives.

I charge my Tesla Model S at home 99%+ of the time. The range is 405 miles - subject to the same effects as gas cars such as hills and winds. Recharging at a "Supercharger" 250KW charger generally is less than 20 minutes when on the road. Usually by the time we have a potty break or a snack the charging is done - the car sends me a text when it is ready.
My diesel pickup can go nearly a 1000 miles with full tank - but it is not nearly as convenient for running around and parking or as comfortable and easy to drive.

How long does it take to charge vs how long you need to be in the store. I'll bet those numbers aren't even close.

If people want to buy electric cars then good for them but don't stop me driving my diesel that filters on it to reduce particles coming from the exhaust.
A. I cannot t afford to buy one B. I don't want to buy one.
C. At my age 74 why do I want a car for the future I might only live a few years.

Range is the problem i drive a f 150 with the big tank and get 600-700 milles range enough for one day job, I’m a pilot car operator and customer, transport driver, try to maximize the millage every day, so the less they have to stop, the mor they call you back,

How does the noise level compare with your Tesla?

The Pickup is significantly noisier. I just drove it this morning and the difference is very noticeable. Also the Tesla doesn't require routine maintenance like oil changes. I have been driving an EV for over 4 1/2 years now and it has saved me time and money. I have solar panels so charging at home is very inexpensive.

All I can say is I have 4 1/2 years of data that indicate my charging numbers are pretty good. The new charging stations are really great - over 1000 mi of charge per hour on my last field charge.

Yeah, it's getting serious. We have always had fights out west over water rights. St George is building at an incredible rate and everyone is wondering where the water is coming from.

St George? What about Las Vegas and Phoenix- people continue to flood into those places even with no water!
