This past week we have been out horn hunting in various area's and came across so many waterfalls! Just love this time of year...here are a few. I know some people like the silky look to the water and some don't so here are a few of each.
Let me know which one's you like best and if there is anything I can do to improve them!
Love your images! I'm a big fan and active participant in the slow shutter speed technique. Creating a sense of motion in a still photograph is significantly more creative than a snapshot of frozen water.
Very nice set Cindy, and I especially like the longer exposure shots. Well done.

Interesting response - for me, the "slow shutter speed technique" does anything but create a sense of motion - whereas, again for me, a faster shutter does not "freeze" the water - rather it captures the lively bubbling and foaming of the water's fast passage through the rocks, and I can almost hear the sounds of a wild, bubbling torrent sparkling in the sunlight.
I have never, ever, in reality, seen the "milky water" effect, which has been described as "cotton wool" and "shaving foam". If you have, I would be extremely grateful if you would advise me where you saw it - so that I can see it for myself.

Great set Cindy. I like the way you varied the shutter speed on the water.
Fabulous set, Cindy. I love when you are hiking and you can hear the stream before you can see it.
#4 is my favorite, but they are all beautiful
I love all waterfalls. But I much prefer them to look real, not slowed. These are really, really pretty!

Wonderful! A bit of negative exposure comp. on the one's where the water is too bright.
I have sat below a water falls and just watched for a time in thought but I never saw a silky one. You have to understand that this is with my eyes and the thoughts I have are mine. I like your photos a lot and thanks for including the actual ones. Beautiful!

Spectacular job, Cindy 💦🌊💙🌊💦
Very timely post for me. Just bought my first ND filter. Your wonderful shots perfectly demonstrate ND effects. Thanks for posting, Cheers -- Dan

I respect your right to disagree. My opinion remains as stated. I've never referred to the technique as milky water, cotton wool, or shaving foam and don't see it that way. To summarize, some people like slow shutter speed and some don't.
