Do the files you upload to Dropbox retain their names/numbers/order (the way they are organized on your computer) or does Dropbox change them?

When I export an album to Dropbox from PSE , I have them in "Album Order". I go to file and export as a new file. I browse to Dropbox inmy Documents (windows 10) and make a New Folder which I name. I export as jpeg, original size to Dropbox. They arrive in the same order with the same file name and size. The link you create, copy and send retains all!

Just started using it and I use the Drop Box folder that it put in my Windows File Manager, drag and drop folders of my photos that I want to send to somebody, then select "Copy link" for that folder and email them the link. As far as I can tell these photos don’t go through Drop Box until my recipient accesses the link. They stay on my PC until then. Is that the right way to look at it? Your comments would be appreciated.

I upload whatever I want to send to DB, then copy the share link and send it to my intended recipient. The files stay on DB as long as you don't delete them and will appear in DB

You have received the answers to your questions....but one DropBox issue must be addressed. If you delete a file on your desktop/laptop..it will be deleted in your Dropbox 'cloud' folder as well--and the other way around too! Deleted forever! So, be careful and make sure you have a backup of your files.

When I export an album from PSE in its "album order" as a "new file" , I give it a name for the New Dropbox folder. The export is put in numerical order by Dropbox and that is how the link sets up and arrives. You can rename whenever you want by right clicking and click on "rename". The numerical order remains the same even when you delete some. Also retained with your photos is the exif info. I know there is a a Dropbox feature which allows recipients to edit but I avoid that feature.

When I put something into DropBox, it shows up there, whether I send a link to someone or not.

The files you specify are copied to Drop Box.
The link you provide people just says where they are on Drop Box.

Correct indeed. A note further on this. If you delete photos from your local drive they can remain on the cloud Dropbox. I found that my allocated space in the cloud filled up and I had to remove old photos to make way for the new. Thus you always want to make sure those photos in the cloud are backed up locally so you dont lose them all. I made that mistake one time. Lesson learned.

No. Everything you put into the drop box folder on your pc is synced the your drop box sight on the web. This allows you and whom ever your send a link to, to view, download, edit or whatever you desire. If you delete a file from your PC or the web it will be deleted dependent on the answer you give too the question you will be asked to answer about how you want it deleted it.

And/or whether you give shared users rights to modify the files.

I noticed that the Drop Box app is backing up my iPad photos and I can’t find a way to shut that off. Is there any way to do that? My Apple devices get backed up to the Apple cloud.
