Ask for s/n. Ask manufacturer if is good lens
I heard they do but they are labeled Nikon.
Get the lens s/n. Then check with the manufacturer to see if it is non-grey.
You notice they don't call it Honest Abes

Tamron, and Tamron only, can work on their lenses and they won't repair gray market equipment at all. They don't sell parts to repair shops either so you have to use their repair facility. If theirr is a question about the validity of the offer then buy the lens from an authorized seller. You'll be glad you did in the long run. It's going to need service at some point.
Are you confusing Tamron with Nikon about repairs?
Never heard Tamron had same repair policy as Nikon. I only buy USA EQUIPTMENT
I doubt that any reputable camera manufacturer would knowingly sell a second or a defective product unless it was factory serviced to operate and look like it was new. I am retired but when I worked, my company manufactured and sold construction products. Occasionally someone would ask us to sell them a "second" or a slightly damaged product, We absolutely wouldn't do it. The reason was that, once installed, it represented the reputation of our company. An obesever would see it and ask the owner where they got it, The owner would name our company without mentioning that it was blemished and they got a special deal. The observer would remember that it didn't look right and would never buy anything made by our company. If a blemished, damaged or defective product couldn't be made perfect, we destroyed it. Once a reputation for quality is lost, it is almost impossible to regain. That also applies to poor customer service. These days, it amazes me that so many products I buy are defective. That should be unacceptable to everyone and companies that don't abide by quality principles should be forced out of business. That should also apply to service industries like hotels and restaurants.

Just curious - are there 2nds in the photographic world? Maybe not grey market but cameras/lenses which do not meet the manufacturers stringent quality standards and are sold off cheaply.
I ask as I'm looking to buy a Tamron lens here in Australia and find 5 out of 6 retailers price is A$1200+ with the 6th selling supposedly the same lens at more than 20% discount - A$850. The retailer insists its genuine Australian stock with full warranty and offers 14 day return if not satisfied. As a retiree that saving is very attractive but I'm concerned I may be buying a substandard product. I don't want to have to try out their 14 day return policy if I do get a poorer quality lens.
Does anyone know if this is a possibility - substandard goods being sold off cheaply?

I would bet with certainty that it is a scam.
