I have canon pro-10. I stopped using it about 2 years ago and want to start using it again.
What steps should I take to get me up running again without damaging anything?
Should I get all new ink cartridges?
I am also using a MacBook Pro and LrC.

If it has been plugged in all that time - nothing! Just turn it on and check the supply levels. Canon photo printers supposedly do a procedure similar to 'nozzle check' every 60 hours - whether the machine is turned on or off. I've never heard mine do it, but the printer is about 20 feet from my desk, in another room.

Unlike some other printer manufacturers, Canon does not give expiration dates on ink. BUT - the ink is a pigment style, so it is possible that the solids may settle a bit. I do not know, but I would probably take the carts out, shake them a little bit, and reinstall them *if the unit has been unplugged for that period of time.*

If the unit was unplugged during its hiatus, before you make any prints, again check the supply levels *and* run nozzle check/cleaning. There will *probably* be no problem, but not a guarantee. When the printhead 'parks', it is pretty well sealed.

If you are using WiFi to print, you may have to re-configure the settings if there have been any changes in your ISP or the ISP's protocol. (see next note)

If you get an "error 300 - unable to detect printer" code, reset your WiFi unit and try again. If you continue getting the 300 code, get yourself a USP-to-printer cable, connect the printer and your computer, and call Canon (1-800-652-2666), and they will walk you through getting it back on your system and your WiFi. (they are very helpful and non-judgmental)

Good luck - let us know how it goes!
