Thanks for the memories. I began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1965. It merged with the New York Central which became Penn Cental and eventually evolved into Conrail. I'm now in my 13th year of retirement and enjoying every minute of every day.

Thank you. I've been a retired washer and dryer repairman for 10 yes now. I used to be a big rail fan back in those days. I had 1000's of slides that my x destroyed. I still have a few left. I'm cleaning up one now of a GG'-1 in allmost the same position.

My grandfather was a lieutenant in the railroad police in New Haven for the New York, New Haven and Hartford line.

When we were quite young they were producing a safety manual and he had me, my brother and our cousins pose for pics in the manual. I remember climbing the ladder on the side of a boxcar with a sign above my head reading, "DANGER! 25,000 VOLTS"

This was probably in the mid 50s.

Dirty, dusty, gritty with a scrap yard behind it. I love it!

When I was a young teen we used to jump onto the boxcar ladder of a freight train while it was moving, all be it slowly, but dangerous nonetheless. I'm not proud of having done so but teenagers often get involved in very dangerous activities. It's a wonder we survive our youth.
