Firebirds wrap up a weekend sweep before heading out on the road next week. They did pretty good what with three starters laid up. Shot with Nikon Z9 fitted with a f2.8 Nikon 70-200. 1/1000th shutter speed at ISO 5000. Little bit of post processing with Topaz Sharpen AI. A few images from the games.

Next up this week, hopefully I'll get the chance to take my new 100-400 S lens out to a track meet and a volleyball game. I'm curious to see how it handles both at the outside track meet and indoors volleyball match. Fingers crossed!

The best I must say. You captured the feel of the game, love the expressions. White balance you nailed it, stop the action nailed that too. My favorite of the bunch is the last one.
Great work.

Thanks, Jules! My favorite is the next to last one. The "rest of the story" is that guy stands 6'11. Very personable, but you would never get that from his expression in that photo! When I showed it to him, he looked at it, then smiled saying "I like that". Showed him where to get it, so I imagine is is floating around his social media somewhere!

Funny thing is the third image looks as if I over corrected the image. I played with it quite a bit to get rid of the pasty look, but it is just the combination of his skin color and the way the light hit his upper body.
