So good to be outside after sitting in a gym with poor lighting for two months. Ah the fresh air.

Jules,

Your best baseball set to date, from what I can remember! Excellent balance in composition, filling the frame, horizon, colors/WB, shutter speed! Nothing like beating outdoor photography until the sun goes down right!

Thanks Jules,
Rick

Rick:
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to comment. Right about the sun going down.
My last gallery I shot almost 99% using the D4 with 200-500 5.6 1/2500 at 5.6 to 6.3. No action to speak of. It was like the Dodgers playing a little league team. It was embarrassing. 12-0 after 2 innings. I left at the top of the 3rd. Just couldn't watch any longer.
Tuesday it will be softball and Thurs. bb.
This is all the action. The one play at the plate the umpire had his rear end blocking the entire frame.

Hi Paul:
Thank you for the nice comments.
I feel the 300 2.8 sitting on a full frame camera like the D4 is to short for baseball.
The last game I shot I used the 200-500 5.6 (only on a sunny day) was better, it brought the action even closer. Tomorrow I will shoot softball and I will use the 200-500 on that game as well.
The 300 is a great lens, but it does have it's place, great for football at night and probably for softball too, but I like the option it brings to the game.
