Anything you can contribute would be appreciated. As you might have noticed there is not all that interest in wedding photography on this forum> Many of the folk mage derogatory remarks about that aspect of the profession. The is not very much traffic in this section and my co-manager seems to have disappeared.

It'd disappointing to me because I got my start in the profession in the wedding and portrait business in New York City. My first job was with a Brooklyn studio that specialized in Ultra-Orthodox Jewish weddings. In the season, we worked 5- days a week at weddings- BIG wedding- all-nighters!. After my stint in the army, I came back to the industry and have been at it for well over 50 years. I stopped counting- I'm sure there are many thousands.

Nowadays, I run a commercial photography business in Ottawa Canada but still shoot occasional weddings for old clients. My studio still offers weddings and events coverage but the younger staff does most of that.

I keep telling folks that there's a lot to be learned for weddg photography experience. There are many skill sets that can be applied to other areas of the craft.

So...tell me what you will like to do and perhaps we can generate some more interest. Sem me a PM and we will plan something!

Worse comes to worst, we can talk shop and exchange war stories.

Hi, I’m an amateur that started almost two years ago. Check my profile and you’ll see what I shoot, and you’ll see one portrait that I think turned out well using natural light outdoors in open shade.
I’d be interested in learning how to photograph a gathering but I don’t think I could do a wedding as I’d probably goof up. Topics around buying and using flash units and how to direct poses would be a good start.
