Very nice, Wayne. I'm sure the diagram with the light setup will be found useful by many. A suggestion would be to also indicate the light strength set for each of the lights in the diagram. That might help some determine how to balance the illumination provided by each. The lighting seems exquisite for these portraits.

My go to settings for studio type portraits is,
ISO-100
Aperture f/8
Shutter speed 1/160

The reflectors are set to taste,
The bottom one is used to fill in the eye sockets and the area under the nose and the chin. The one on the side is used to fill the shadows on the side of the face opposite the main light. By moving it in and out you can adjust the lighting ratio. On most of these photos the lighting ratio is about 4 to 1 (two stops below the main).

For the Rim/Hair light I usually start one stop below the main light or f/5.6. You need to kept an eye on this light, you will need more power for dark colored hair and less power for light colored hair.

For the background light I used a Godox V860II and a Rouge grid with a red gel. It was set about one stop +/- below the main light to give me a subdued red area behind Felicia and the edges of my background would fade to black.

Anyway, that was my thought process, hope that helps.

Very nice all of them and a real beauty . If I would say anything , I like the ones where you don't see the strong light on the right side hitting her hair . That's just my taste . If she is happy , that's all that matters and it doesn't make them wrong . Thanks for sharing . Tommy

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I have looked through books by many different pro photographers and they have not been as clear as you were in that description. Plus your drawing of the setup is very professional. Thanks for sharing!

Here are some more lighting setups I have used in the past. I am putting together a small light-weight two light and a reflector kit for location portraits. I have drawn some 30 or 40 possible lighting setups with that kit. Hope to find a model this summer to test everything. If any of you guys are interested in doing a similar project and comparing equipment and results message me.

Lighting kit. (Two lights & a reflector)

• Godox AD-200, with extra battery, round head and extension flash kit.
• Godox AD-100, with extra battery.
• Godox Xpro controller.
• Godox AK-R1 accessory kit.
• Godox AK-R11 dome head.
• Godox bare bulb umbrella reflector.
• Sekonic S-308 light meter.
• Color Checker Passport.
• 32” 5-in-1 reflector.
• One S-2 bracket.
• One medium light stand.
• One small light stand.
• Two Glow 40” shoot through umbrella.
• One Glow EZ lock octa (25”).
• 9” x 9” x 34” LS Photography bag.
• One 57” by 79” collapsible back drop with stand.
• One reflector holder with stand.
