I've successfully used my Nikon D850 as an Astro camera, with the ability to zoom in on the live view screen to get the focus just right. I've seen some YouTube videos with Fuji XT4 bodies used similarly. There are real advantages to a crop sensor for Astro.
I was unable to get a zoom view on the rear screen, regardless of how many times I tried to pinch in, click the rear command dial for the 2X zoom, etc. Has anybody gotten it to work on a Fuji XT4?

How cold was it. Screens can really act up in cold. Don't see whatbis on the screen should affect its magnification. Since they are touch driven (capacitance), really low humidity, gloves, might also affect them.
Just some thoughts;

I'm in Los Angeles, we don't know from the cold. No seriously, no gloves, and temperatures were a brisk 62 Deg.

Forgot to check your location.
But don't understand then. I do know I have had such proplems in dry conditions with cell phones, just always though it was a hardware, not software issue.
We all do really simple, but dumb things at times, so figure can't hurt to suggest. A feklow scientist once was ready for a service call ($500-1000 to come say hi) on an instrument with a heater oven that would not heat, I noticed that a never used switch was set to -. In more than 30yrs, I never knew anyone to use starting temps below room, which have required an added cooling system, just noticed the switch setting. Unfortunately, non of us knew on another occassion that thermal printing paper only printed from one side.
Good luck;
