Asi1600MM Pro is a bad boy when paired with my astrograph 30 min. 7nm Ha on test night with 0 gain. Wow moment! detail is exploding everywhere. I've been testing at different gain levels for a while now , on each target. I read on C/N there's a post on "settings for the 1600". Settings change frequently. I was really excited when it came together on the computer, I can just imagine what it will do as I increase the level of the gain and start using the 50-100 offset . I've never imaged on this target before.

Nice shot. There is a lot of detail in the Rosette Nebula with Narrow Band.

Thank you, I'm getting ready to uncover and get everything together for the nights test , maybe it'll prove to be the night to let it run.

Lookin Good Ronnie!
Glad you are working with an ASI1600mm Pro, too. Maybe I can pick up some pointers from you?

Is this the CN thread you mentioned? https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/570020-gain-settings-for-asi1600mm-cool/
I've been banned from CN. But I can still access to glean info there.
I've had a long run of bad luck here. Mostly poopy weather.
But when the weather is OK, my little dell I use at the mount acts up and runs slow.
The other night I had a good excersize in starting over about 47 times.
Finally got too cold to keep fooling with it.
So I considered it a training session and packed it in.
Now we are back to clouds and high winds.
It's OK, I've got the patience of Job. I might just format my Baby Dell and reload it.
That'll fix it, or kill it and go get a new mount computer.

Still haven't figured out how to get color images from my mono images.
Mostly been hibernating.

I feel the pita all the way here in NC. the weather is bitter cold , processing stacking and processing my hoard is all I'm doing below freezing with a wind chill in the teens. March 1st 2021 after photon collecting over a span of 2 months without any calibrations added , I collected on the HH this year . I curios to see how much it is improved if any , or I 'll just process it out the way I have been .

Hi Ronnie
I find Ha can be used with LRGB as an addition to the Red or in some cases as a complete replacement for the Red channel. I haven't tried this with LRGB + SII yet but I expect it will work. I have just started experimenting with varying the ratio of Ha and red when doing the pixel math (e.g. (.5*Red) + Ha)) and using OIII with blue on some stuff I'm trying with data on the Christmas tree nebula (I hope to post these in a couple of days when starnet completes and I can finish them up. Starnet at full resolution is taking ~30+ hours of computing per image and I have multiple images I'm playing with). The Ha seems to have the most detail/texture compared to the Red only, so it can definitely help the image. It can however change the star colors a bit. The reason I've started to use Starnet is to separate out the stars and nebula in some case and then color process them separately before adding them back in (This is particularly true when using the Hubble pallet on full narrow band images where the stars come out pink, which I don't care for from an aesthetic point of view).
