This is the third and last set covering the "Five Flower Lake". I repeat the information I provided in the initial post on this lake:

FIVE FLOWER LAKE (五花海 - Wǔhuā Hǎi), the pride of Jiuzhaigou, lies at the end of the upper reaches of the Peacock River at an altitude of 2472 m (8110 ft). It is surrounded with mountains, has a depth of 5 m (16 ft) and the lake-bed is visible under its clear water. The color of the lake varies from amber yellow, emerald green, dark jade to light turquoise, with a hint of coral, but, most of the time the water is sapphire blue. It is mesmerizing to observe. The place is shrouded in secrets and mysteries. While neighboring lakes periodically dry up, the water level in the Five Flower Lake is always constant and the lake does not freeze in winter, thus local residents consider it to be a holy lake. However, there is a rational explanation for it: The water contains lime, calcium carbonate and multicolored hydrophytes, additionally an underwater hot spring flows into the lake.

This final set on the Five Flower Lake mainly concentrates on smaller views and more artistic details that popped up as we strolled around this fantastic lake.

The scenes are almost other worldly, Joe. BTW you clearly married above yourself (LOL).

Thank you Barbara, glad you like the colors, I also find #8 quite unusual.

Thanks Mike, glad you like these scenes and I can confirm that, while they look almost other worldly, we were on terra firma! I'll let Susan know about your evaluation, she will be pleased - of course I know that I was and still am a very lucky guy to "capture" such a rare jewel!

I like your "artsy" description here Joe! These images have so many possibilities that abstract is another way to describe them.
Was it the hot spring fed, mineral rich environment that kept us from seeing fish under that water? It just occurred to me that with all this beauty and color, there was something missing.....
What a magical place you and Susan have shared with us. Love the last shot as much as any for the pure joy the two of you shared, this trip.

Thank you Ken for your nice words. Don't worry, while this is the last post of this particular lake, I will have a couple of more posts of other lakes, then also of the rivers and waterfalls and we will dive a bit deeper into a Tibetan village before we bid Jiuzhaigou farewell. But I do have to admit, from a color and reflection point of view, nothing beats the sights here at the Five Flower Lake. Well, you have to take the highlights as they come and then move on to other interesting locations!

Thanks Rob, abstract would have been a better term, but you have to forgive me: Sometimes these words just don't surface when I am writing, my not being a native English-speaker still shows up!

You are right, and I didn't actually reflect on that: I have not seen any fish in these waters. It could of course be that the specific mineral content in some of these lakes or maybe the rather shallow depth makes fish less likely in some of these lakes. But I do know that fish exist in some of the lakes, actually right in tomorrow's post I have a reference to a type of fish living in the waters of the nearby Panda Lake.

Glad to hear that you like that last shot of Susan and myself also - Susan of course is her own happily shining self - and I am happy to say that since then I lost about 10 pounds which makes me now a bit less "all-rounded" - and "less" is definitely "more" in this case.
