If I don't recognize the number, I pickup and hangup. I'll have to get my call blocker working again.

Not sure but I think If you pick up and hang up the telemarketers view that just like you would if you had picked up an answered. On lists they sell your number will be listed as one that answers the phone.

This feature needs to be monitored and not forgotten about. If you drop off your car for service and the mechanic says “I’ll call you when it’s done “ and you don’t have their number in your contacts you will not know if they called unless you diligently check your phone every so often to see that they called and left a message. Also, like most businesses they might have more than one line. If you don’t have ALL of their numbers in your contacts you will miss the call.
It’s a good feature but don’t forget that you turned it on. 😀

Actually, a study by a group at North Carolina State University found that answering robocalls does not increase the likelihood of being called again:
"Critically, we find no evidence that answering unsolicited calls increases the amount of unsolicited calls received, overturning popular wisdom."

That feature is not available for my iPhone 6s; wish it was.

This feature needs to be monitored and not forgott... (show quote)

I’ve been using this for some time now. In my experience with the feature I have found that people who want to speak with you or have something for you will leave a voicemail. The robo calls for the most part just hang up. I have also noticed that the volume of robo calls has decreased greatly since I started using the feature.

That’s a great feature. I’ve been using it for quite a while. It’s one reason I like Apple iPhones.

What's a telemarketer?

My system is simple...
No name...no pick up.
Voice mail is left full at all times...
My phone stays clean and tidy.

If I don’t recognize the number or a contact name doesn’t appear, I generally don’t answer. If the call is legitimate, the caller can leave a message and I’ll call back.

In the past week, I’ve been receiving a daily spam call that is in Spanish. The problem is they spoof local telephone numbers on caller Id so I don’t know if it is a legitimate call.

I have my phone set that way. Not in my contact list it won't ring. Anyone with legitimate reason to call leaves a message. Answering a criminal call, and being on the do not call list they are criminals if they call me, identifies a legitimate number they can then resell to another criminal. I never answer if I don't know who it is as I will not let them know they reached a valid number. I wish there was a button to push to electrocute their phone system. Good riddance if possible.
