Now that's unusual!
I had a 36 Chev 5 window coupe, the very car this was built on and of course black. Your pictures take me back to the car I loved.
Me either. Great find & nice photos.
I had no idea that the El Camino was around that long ago. I always liked them.

WOW, Not as old as y'all (76 ) Been around quite a bit of the old cars, never seen this one. Thanks for sharing !
Several companies, as well as home builders, made these contraptions for coupes of the day. Most were designed for use in the more plentiful Fords (model T's & A's) and were mainly seen in rural areas as a means of making a car serve as a P.U.
Never saw one of those in my 80 years. I can see how it is a conversion on a model similar to one in my family after the War. My Mom had a '37 ('38?) Dodge Business coupe. No back seat, so the trunk was hughe. There was a spare tire behind the driver and a door behind the passenger seat. If my Mom went shopping and I stayed in the car, I sometimes crawled into the trunk to surprise her when she returned.
Thanks for the very interesting pic.

I am 81, and also never heard of this.

This was taken at the Savoy Museum in Cartersville GA. The car was built by GM/Chevrolet and there were about 3000 +/- made in all. There are only 9 survivors believed to be still alive. A truly unusual car. I am bumping 80 and never heard about this car until last Saturday.
These were taken with a Fuji X-T4 with 16-80 Fuji lens in Auto mode and adjustments in PS 2022.
Saw some of these around when I was a kid in southern Idaho in the '50s.
I've never seen one of these. Beautifully restored. Just look at the Caddie reflection on the door in the first shot. Wow!
Im 86 and lived in SoCal almost my entire life and never saw this as a factory product. There were a few personally built local conversions like it though. I specifallu on made on a Doidge coupe and it had the little wooden fence on top of the metal lower sides (East LA-Montebello circa 1947).
I'm 84 also never saw this car ,and I love all kinds of cars mostly old cars.
