Well I got Max to take 63 of the 74 I sent in for a gallery after all the work I had to do. Going to go look at the culled ones to see if I can figure out what I did wrong. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Great..slow down and look at the shots very carefully before Jim gets them. I'll take a look at the gallery.
BB is so very hard to shoot, between the action, white balance, shooting close, again very difficult especially when you don't have the camera or lenses that helps us along the way. I wish I had a D5 but at 3,000 used and I don't sell much bb it just doesn't pencil out.
Keep shooting my friend.

Just looked at your BB gallery Tom on MP, nicely done. Everything has to be tight and hardly cropped for MP, pretty unforgiving system since your material is being sold. I just posted 2 BB galleries myself the other day on MP and I made sure everything was as tight as I can get them. JR rejected 2 images out of the 2 galleries (that's a first) because of composition most likely (he didn't indicate any reason but after reviewing them myself I guess I would have punted them). So always go back into your galleries (I do this) after they are posted and see which images are not accepted and see if you missed the focus, not tight, not composed etc. etc. and learn from that.

Be safe,
Rick

I was to the point that I wasn't ever going back and shoot inside. Now that he did accept some, I think I will give it one more try but be very aware of every shot I make to get full framed sharp focused on every one. I know I sometimes have a hard time with framing a shoot. When I focus and frame it I think that it is too tight and once I do the 3000 x 2216 crop it will cut off parts of the photo. We will see how it goes this week. always look at you Max galleries, you are still the best. Thanks and BE SAFE!!

Going back this week and give it one more try. Like I told Jules a bunch didn't fill frame not tight. LOL Jules and I use to always end post with SHOOT TIGHT! I think about that now and think I need to put something on my camera and lenses that says "SHOOT TIGHT DUMMY". Thanks for the advice will try this week. I looked at your 2 galleries on Max. You and Jules make me fill so inferior. Thanks and BE SAFE!!

Tom:
Maybe pick and choose your shots. For instance how about shooting the free throws (they are not moving) the coaches, go behind the bench on time outs, go from one coach to the other. Stay to the right of the basket and wait for that action to come to you. Use your 70-200 more and more. In post watch more tutorials on editing, cut down on the contrast, move that damn slider to the left a bit. I know you like contrast but our friend NOISE does not. Make the shots perfectly straight. invest in Topaz Denoise AI it's a life saver. I use it on every shot almost. Anything above 1600 in iso I use it. On occasion I use Topaz Sharpen AI too.

In your last gallery I just counted 18 shots of players shooting the ball but no ball in the shot. 3 shots of a little girl post maybe 1.
We have to think about all this is our chosen craft. Again I repeat it is not easy, but if you work on it you will be fine. Maybe post 25 of the best shots. I mean think about it. Who is going to buy a player who doesn't have the ball in the shot?

I don't mean to be harsh but you must listen. Jim will rake you over the coals believe me.

Going tomorrow to shoot BB. Varsity Tournament (4 games) I am only going to shoot the last three, if my knees will hold out. I can always sit some though. Taking all the advice and going for it. I think I will only shoot my 80-200mm f/2.8 and see if I can capture the good shots. Thanks and don't feel bad, harsh is what I might need. Will let everyone know how it goes. BE SAFE!!
