My friend is an Elephant Dentist. He works mostly in Africa, but sometimes performs his services in Alabama. Elephant tusks, like human teeth, occasionally require fillings and even extractions for highly decayed tusks. He says that extractions are difficult because the tusks are typically big and hard to pull.

I asked him if he preferred to work in Africa or Alabama. He said, “Alabama for sure.” I asked him why? He said: “Because in Alabama, tusks are looser.”

I don't get it. What is the alternate meaning of the word "tusks"? I can obviously see the advantage of looser tusks if there were such, but don't get the joke.

I see it. I get it now. A bit regional. That is one of the couple Alabama cities on that map that I would not think of. The others are more familiar to me. I more or less know the cities along the I-10 across the US, especially as I used to live less than a half mile from it in California.
