What an amazing country we live in. We are discussing which vaccine does the best job. 20 years ago we would just be counting the dead, which would be far greater than today. We can criticize the CDC and complain about our health care system, but be sure to count your blessings as well.

I think many folks thought that one or two shots of Covid vaccines would protect folks forever. However, Covid is mutating to now two variations that didn't exist when the vaccines were first produced.

So, it is not unreasonable that boosters are now needed and perhaps will need to be annual shots like the flu shots have been for many years.

There is more than 10 variations. The 2 that you refer to are considered "variants of concern". Currently there is no "Variants of High Consequence" which will cause the disease prevention measures or medical countermeasures less effective and there is the possibility of this to occur.

The link you're referring to is already outdated.

It is difficult to find objective information as the interests are huge in pharmaworld.
I think it was an Israelian study that proved Pfizer has rapidly become less effective, especially against Omicron.

Here is Yale Medicine version of the vaccines.

I've received one jab of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. It is very likely that I will have to take 2 more mrna based vaccines in order to get the "boosted" status. I find this pretty annoying as more and more sources are telling me the mrna vaccines do not directly protect you from the Omicron variant. Also the booster would have to be repeated every 4 weeks.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine however is supposed to work very well against Omicron. I can't get this vaccin in The Netherlands unless medical issues don't allow for a mrna vaccine.

What is the situation in your country? I'm not looking forward to accept 2 more vaccines that are not working very well, whilst the one vaccine that is working is not available to me...

The trouble with getting vaccines from Johnson & Johnson is that when you get back home you smell like furniture polish. Just kidding! I got two vaccines at CVS from Pfizer in 2021. I haven't been around anyone for quite awhile and 8 days ago I went back to CVS to pick up my normal refills for this month and wasn'nt feeling to good for three days after that. My Doctor sent me to get tested for COVID! His office called me the next morning and told me my test was positive and they suggested I go to the hospital and see if they could do anything to help me. They know I have some heart problems and COPD, and they were worried about me being short of breath. I told them that I've had two vaccinations, I've stayed to myself as much as possible for the last year and half, I'm always short of breath with my COPD, the hospital is full of all kinds of people with COVID issues and hard telling what else, and I don't feel like going to the ER and getting huge bill just to hear them tell me there isn't anything they can do to help except put me on breathing machine so that I can lay there for two weeks and wait it out. I haven't been able to eat much because of nausea, and I can't sleep at all because of sinus drainage and this damned dry cough constantly. It has been right at a week since I found out I was positive for the COVID test, and knock on wood, I feel like I.m starting to feel better and not coughing near as much as before, but I am really tired because of lack of sleep. So I got 2 vaccines from Pfizer, been thinking about a booster, been like a hermit and wearing masks when I do go anywhere, and I still got COVID when I went to CVS. Everybody try a stay away from getting it because COVID sucks!!!

I wish they would hurry up with the new pill from Pfizer. It has been shown to be much better than the original injections in tests.

Take what you need to avoid Delta. That's the killer.

"You will not recognize Universiteit Leiden"

I visited with my children (then 13 and 15 so it must have been '95 (and came several times thereafter last time 2019 just before pandemic and saw more new buildings): I couldn't find the center of town driving in from the freeway through Oegstgeest as the whole grassland ("open weide" ) was built up as a new neighborhood. Of course my kids poked fun at me: Did you really study medicine, daddy and are you really a doctor? :)

Follow up

Last week I got my Pfizer booster shot.
However I'm still not welcome in some parts of Germany because 1 jab J&J followed by 1 jab Pfizer, to them, is still not enough. I'll need another jab before I'm considered "boosted".

Well, I will not be visiting Germany any time soon... ; )
