I watched it at NikonRumors and he basically couldn't say much with a Nikon rep sitting in his studio.

He said it is very light in weight, focuses very well and he took a few test shots. No clue as to price (see below).

400mm f/2.8
560mm f/4 with the built-in 1.4X teleconvertor
840mm f/4 with TC in DX mode at 24MP

He said it was pre-production and is waiting for a production model to do a full review, but Nikon hasn't even made a production announcement yet.

He thinks it's possible it may be priced higher than the Sonly and Canon models which are both 12k.

I think they may play off the 9 series and offer it at 9999.99!

The built in 1.4X teleconverter is a nice touch. (not the first ever, but still a smart move by Nikon). Not sure how they will work an add-on 2X TC for this also. That will have to be a special design, just for this lens.

Adding the built-in teleconverters leads me to agree with Jared that it will cost more than the Sony or Canon 400mm f2.8 lenses that use separate 1.4X and 2X teleconverters that are available at additional costs.

I am sure it will be very popular for those Nikon shooters that need and can afford it. Kudos to Nikon and great for all you Nikon users.

Cheers
