When I was 16 years old my father and I flew from LaGuardia airport to Burbank California airport on a 4 engine prop plane ($88 one way). It was my first time flying. It stopped three times before landing in Burbank.
On the last leg, in the middle of the night I looked out the window and noticed one of the engines on fire. It was quickly put out. A little while later another engine caught fire on the opposite wing and was put out. My father was freaking out, but for some reason I thought it was really cool. One of my favorite movies growing up was The High and The Mighty, with John Wayne. I thought nothing could really happen to me. At 16 I was indestructible.
On our our landing approach the next morning at Burbank airport another engine caught fire, and was put out. I couldn’t understand why when I looked out the window there were fire engines lined up near the runway. I was the first one off the plane, and when I got down to the bottom of the ramp, a reporter stuck a microphone in my face and asked me about my harrowing experience. All I remember saying was that I thought it was “neat.”
The next year I joined the Navy, flew all over the world, and in business I was constantly flying. I logged well over a million miles on United. To this day I still get a rush on takeoffs.

That Burbank airport is my favorite airport in Southern CA. It's so much more laid back than LAX or Orange County's John Wayne/SNA.

I prefer Long Beach. After the remodel, it's quite relaxing to depart and arrive there.
In the military we said:
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
If they can reuse the plane it’s a great landing!
A Southwest attendant once announced on a particularly hard landing, “captain kangaroo says welcome to Seattle”
I learned many years ago that a good pilot has equal number of landings as takeoffs. A potentially good pilot has one more takeoff than landings and is still in the air.
My all time favorite announcement (OK, not directly on the topic of landings):
"On behalf of the Captain and crew, we would like to welcome you to Honolulu....
unfortunately, we just landed in Newark"
