Anyone know of anyplace that can repair a Sony lens? It doesn't take clear photos anymore or would I be best sending it directly to Sony?

How do you know it is the lens? Could it be the camera? Operator error? Before going down that path, find a few shots that you find problematic and post on this forum so some of the more technical folks can possibly help you.

In my limited experience, I'd try to see if I could duplicate the problem using another camera. And make sure that I have all operator error eliminated...such as using a tripod, stationary object, etc.

Does it have haze because of fungus? Not much you can do about that.

I’ve used the same camera with a differed lens and had no problem. All photos were taken with camera on a tripod so operator error was eliminated. I’ll post some photos later today

If it is under warranty, send it go Sony. If not, Sony sometimes hires stringers to do their repair work, and sometimes it can be expensive.

I've attached the two pics I took. The top one is the Sony G lens - bottom one Sigma lens. Both are 24-105. All camera settings were left the same and camera was on a tripod with a 2 second delay before pic was taken.

it would have been nice if we could down load the images and check the metadata.

my 2 cents worth...first, you isolated the problem perfectly...the camera, camera shake, etc are all off the table because of your methodology. From what I see, the entire image on the Sony is blurry...not a part of the image. I dont see any spots. My take would be that there is an adjustment / repair needed by a repair center. Maybe an element got bumped and loosened or something. I can only recommend sending the lens and a few images to a repair center.

If I were you, first I would give Sony a call and see what they say. You can check out Mac Camera in Springfield,NJ. They do a lot of the warranty repair service for several brands, plus they run their own warranty service. I have had several cameras serviced there over the years. They are not cheap but do a good job. 973-467-2291

When you’re focusing, do you see that same difference through the eyepiece ?

No. When focusing everything looks fine. I get the green box on the focus area which tells me everything is in focus

Looks like a problem. But, without storing the files with EXIF, none of us can help.

Sony's main authorized USA camera repair shop is Precision Camera in Connecticut. They also have another repair shop they use on the west coast.
