I've run into a issue with emailing embedded photos. I like to embed photos so the person sees them without further ado, but I use Gmail and some other email systems apparently make it hard--or maybe impossible?--to save an embedded picture in a Gmail. Well my main purpose is to send a photo to keep and to treasure. There seems to be no problem with photos sent as attachments, so now I do both.

I hate getting imbedded photos.
Much prefer attachments.

Too many clicks to open an attachment?

Aside from embedded or attached, I am sure there is a size limit. Usually of 25MB. So you are limited to JGPs more or less, say a few of 5MB each. I often created 800MB TIFFs and 300MB JPGs, so I have to down size for sharing. DropBox let's you share large files if you can figure it out.

Just curious, if you can make a great 40x60” print from a 25mg jpeg, what would you ever need a 300mg jpeg for. I could see this as an unflattened PS file, but jpeg? Not being snide. Just wondering.

An attachment is so easy. You can just drag it out of the email to the desktop, or straight into a folder. It seems as though people would be more likely to save and view this than something embedded.

If you're having problems with the size of the attachments, this post was written for you:

Recommended resizing parameters for digital images

My experience is the online free email systems prefer to send the files as embedded images. Consider reducing the pixel resolution and file size, as discussed above, and see if that gives your desired result.

I have no problem with this. It's a simple copy and paste.

1. Open the picture in Photos. Then click on Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C. You've copied the picture to the clipboard.
2. Click on Ctrl+V in the body of your email where you want the picture. The picture will show in the email you're sending.
3. On the receiving end, there will be a download button on the bottom right of the picture in case someone wants the picture as a file.

Embedded photos etc are not good. You have to select small, med, or large. I don't know what sides that is. But the can be enlarged by dragging the corners. Not good for detain. Best to send as an attachment, sizes just as you would for here. Just make sure you do not send more total than Gmail allows.

The more you work an image in PS by adding layers, the bigger it gets. Also I make focus stacks and stitched panoramas. Starting with say an individual 18MB 16MP Raw file or several I can get huge finished images. Yes, the PSD files can get huge! And as stated do Save As TIFFs and JPGs.
I of course reduce their size physically and digitally for printing, sharing, and even viewing. So the really big TIFF and JPG files are only used for archiving. I occasionally re-edit image files with new techniques. For the same reason I keep all my good RAW files. I don't seem to have a problem with file storage on my HDD. I yearly remove files to external storage. Bottom line, I eventually reduce my image files to match my printer's paper size of no more than 17×13 inches.

Yes it can... Depending on the viewing distance. Bill boards are sometimes promoted at 1 DPI.

Here is an article to explain it....

Would Dropbox be a direction to consider??
