Yesterday was a day of seeing numerous birds along the shore. I hope you enjoy these.

Thank you very much. If you mean with the black top knots, there are two species, the Royal Tern and the Elegant Tern. The Elegant Tern has his top know going across the head, sort of like a sideways Mohawk haircut. The Royal Tern has his topknot going back sort of like the DA hair style of the 50's and early 60's. Both are really neat to see and I admit to not ever hearing of them or seeing any until about a week ago when some birder friends pointed them out to me at another location. Yesterday at a different beach these stuck out to me because I now know what they are.
I ask for your indulgence because I am NOT a birder, seldom recall the actual names of any birds I see except those I grew up with, robins, blue jays, chickadees and sparrows, basically. These two are worth googling.

Very nice series, Dennis. I've never seen the Curlew's (big ones with the big, down curved beaks) on the beach before. They are much more common on grassy fields in my experience.

Thanks Chief. And all along I thought they were Willetts, right up until a friend pointed them as curlews too, a few minutes ago. Oh well. I do enjoy taking pictures of them all no matter what they are called. I know someone will correct me and that is OK too. I appreciate you pointing that out to me.
