OR

You can use the screen capture feature.
Command-Shift-4 will set up the cursor. You then place the cursor on one corner of the screen and click-drag it to another place to create a rectangle. When you release the cursor it will place a screen shot on your desktop.

This has the advantage that what you copy doesn't have to be an image. It can be a page of text or anything your screen can show.

You are correct on all points. I prefer the "save image as..." since it creates a jpg which seems to have a sharper image rather than the screen grab. Yes, I often use the screen capture for items (including text) that is not an actual photo or graphic.

Click Download. RIGHT-click or CONTROL-Click on the image. Choose Save Image to Downloads or Save Image As...
