I took the original image into Photoshop and started playing with the " Motion Blur" filter. Created multiple different layers of the blur from different blur angles. In the end, I cooled down the temp of the image to give it a more winter look.
1st Image: Final edit from Photoshop with Paper texture layer added.
2nd Image: Screenshot of Photoshop showing working layers.
3rd Image:Ran it through FotoSketcher.
4th Image: Original Image

Titled: Winter's Mist

I like your results in the first image and the image done with FotoSketcher. I also like the original, except for the street - I guess my brain tells me it is a distraction from the main subject and seems out of place even though I know including it was unavoidable.

The only one that works for me is the original. I would have spent my time on that one. While I would have seen how clarity, dehaze, contrast and tonal range would affect the picture, the real big question for me would have been the cropping. Should I center the tree and used a square format? Or place it to one side creating a big, empty space on the other side? The would create tension. If the original does not have enough open space, you can add it with Photoshop. Although I am looking out at a lovely sunny morning here, I would preserve the gloom of the picture.

One thing bothers me about the picture. The road in the foreground. I would use a slight negative linear gradient to play that down.

Thanks for posting. The picture has real potential but not in the way you took it.

Thank You for your subjective critque. While I like the road I took, your view is food for thought. Please feel free to download the original and process however you like, then re-post back into this thread. I would love to see what your vision looks like.

I would be glad to. Any chance of sending the raw? If not, I will work with this.

My mistake, it was taken with my Panasonic micro-four thirds camera. It's still a jpeg. Do you want it or just use the one you have?

Nicely done. I like the first one except for the background texture which I find distraction. I think the blue fog with a plane background would be nicer. JMHO
