I like to look for minor errors in movies. I saw three last night. During a chase scene, a Volvo became a Dodge Caravan, the lights on a spacesuit helmet changed position, and a Cadillac moved twenty feet on its own. With shooting one scene spanning several days, I'm surprised that they get it right most of the time. Continuity can be a challenge.

I canโ€™t say for sure but many movies, if not all, are filmed out of sequence. Doing so no doubt leads to many more errors in making a movie or television show. The Internet Data Movie Base (IMDB) web site lists movie goofs/errors on a particular movie web page. Some of the errors are very minor that most people would never catch but some are doozies.

Some of my favorites are in the epic film, Spartacus. Some of the slaves in the movie are wearing watches and tennis shoes. In another scene, the Tony Curtis character is wearing a Rolex. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

The biggest mistake in some of the movies, is me watching them.

My wife gets irritated with my comments, during a movie, of the mistakes.

The ones that really jump out are constantly showing different aircraft when it is supposed to be the same one. Some others are firearms related ... I keep saying I am going to collect the ammo on the floor/ground where they keep racking the slide again-and-again thru a scene.

I had a friend who worked at a movie theater. He said that in the first (1980's?) Superman movie when Supey's zooming to save the dam, his briefs turn green for an instant.

Another friend was a movie fanatic, and said in one of the Godzilla movies, when Gz is battling King Kong, Gz picks up a railroad car (engine?). And there, on the side, it says "Lionel"! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Guess it didn't matter in Japan! (Or maybe "Lionel" is Japanese for "Tokyo Railways"?)
Not really into movies myself, but... br br I ha... (show quote)

Funny!

Someday, they'll develop guns like they have in movies - unlimited ammo.

I posted about a movie I watched that had the film reversed. Reilly weird. American driver driving American car on the right side of the car. Writing was backwards. Everyone was left-handed.

That may have been a pirated movie. It was a method to get around the copyright laws. In certain countries, a new copyright can be given when the entire film is reworked, i.e., doing vertical flip of the film. In some, the dubbing was considered a rework of the original film. Then there are those that bounce around in terms of scale of the movie. (Close up cut, Full cut, then close up cut, back and forth.)

Lately, when I am presented movies, they are Russian movies. One, I got into it and 10 minutes in, I ask myself why are the actors speaking in Russian. My Russian is very rusty for lack of use at this time, so I rely on my Ukrainian for roots. I have watched a couple of movies from Russia a while back on Youtube.

Oh well. If it is done well I will work my way through it.

You will still have to yell "Bang!" Back in boot camp, we ended up doing that because we ran out of the blanks we were using on the range.

In one of Arnold Schwartnegers movies a sports car that is involved in a crash and has a lot of damage is seen driving away dent-less.

Hollywood loves motorcycle chases and Hollywood
loves to dub in the incorrect exhaust sound.

Typically the sound dubbed in is an inline 4 cylinder
whether the bike is 1 two or three cylinder...

Another one they like to dub in is the sound of a two stroke
engine over a four stroke dirt bike... a classic example is
"John Conners" XR80 Honda (4 stroke) in Terminator II
with the sound of a 2 stroke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw12gZ1T-j0

I always like cars skidding around a corner and seeing numerous skid marks from previous takes. โ€œBulletโ€ was great for this one.

Also in an old movie from the 50's staring Robert Mitchum a chase between the Feds and the moonshiners, the car driven by Mitchum; breaks a front headlight. Later in the same chase scene the car has two good headlights -- oops!

I worked at Universal Hollywood for 34 years and saw many chalk marks and blue tape strips laid by the Continuity techs, the auto mistakes occur when the scenes are not filmed in sequence and, the getaway scene was shot before the accident one.
