Tennessee Red Barn In Snow

We braved the snowcovered backroads of Tennessee to photograph the old red barn. IPhone 13 Pro Max. The road was elevated and the side led down a ice-covered snowback to the fence line. I didn't particularly like the angle so I changed it in post processing. I first made a loose selection around the fence line including some snow and then did a CTRL J to put it on it's own layer. Next, I went to the base layer and did the same thing only with the selection active, I went to the Content Aware Fill filter and filled that whole fence line in with just the snow on the ground. Finally, I activated the Fence line layer and resized it to fill more of the frame from side to side. The final image is more of what I probably could have framed up had I climbed down that ice/snow covered ditch and stood. I'm getting too old for that. LOL.
First image: Final Edit.
Second Image: Original
Third Image: Fence Line Selection
Fourth Image: Content Aware Fill to get rid of the Fence Line

Normally, I would not like the fence and growth in the foreground. An unnecessary distraction. However, in this case, I really like it. It adds to the desolation of the place. I would not have dialed down the red but would have boosted it a tad. I like the cheerful contrast of the barn to the glum of the rest of the picture. The fence also gives a sense of distance.

Thanks for showing us the two versions. This is a very evocative picture.

You are welcome. It is such a depressing picture. I like it because it is so moving in its very quiet way.

I really like what you did with this! I don't know if it would've occurred to me to remove the fence row, then add back in and make it larger. I also love the beautiful sky!!

Thank You. It occured to me because I didn't want to climb down that icy snowbank to get the shot I wanted. LOL.

Both versions are nice images, Fstop. But, personally, I like the original most. I think the fence line helps keep the eye in the frame and on the colorful barn.

Where is that scene located, if you don’t mind disclosing that info? In my part of middle Tennessee, it is rare to find a safe place to park in order to get out of your car to make a photograph of a pretty, interesting landscape.

The address is 5632 Cooks Lane, Smyrna, TN. There's not really any parking. The road was covered in snow and ice the morning we took this shot. Little to no traffic. I just parked right on the road, put my flashers on and got out and took my shots. We weren't there but a couple of minutes and the few cars that came up behind us just went around us. There is a driveway close by I guess you could stop and get permission to park for a few minutes

Beautiful. It's the second barn photo I have seen lately that has a Tennessee Walking Horse on the front. I used to make 4 ft tall horse cutouts like that for people to put on their barns (mostly Tn Walkers). Sold them all over the US. Wonder if that might be one I made.
