Very nice my friend. I need to get to some games to shoot, haven't been in a while. Been busy around the house with projects. I go through the league calendars each month and write down all games I might go shoot. Then go back and pick the ones I would go to and put them on my big calendar above my office desk for easy access and to see what is coming up. Keep posting and hope your New Years has started out well, your photos have. Thanks BE SAFE!!

I see you lowered you SS to reduce your ISO, I'm I on the right track?

That said, did you have many motion blur images, just in the eyes, only because yours, Tom's, Stephen's, and myself our task master from MP mostly looks at the eye's for "razor sharp" pass/fail.

With volleyball (when it was in season), I went from 1/1000 to 1/1250, which also raised my auto ISO 1/3-stop to compensate, but my keepers went up in the 'razor-sharp' eye department. Soooo, I'm just curious about that slight motion blur in the eyes from your lower ss (1/640). I believe you had a post way-back when (can't remember the date of the post) asking if the eyes showed a little motion blur (maybe it was girls volleyball image).

BTW, great captures! Good thing that 1st image had strong verticals in the background (on the wall) with the players slanted jump shot.

I finally got back into pictures again (after the long break), did 2.25 girls soccer games yesterday (caught the last 20min of a game before the 2 games I wanted to shoot). Planning on doing 2 basketball games tonight, I'll skip the soccer games tonight, froze my butt off yesterday (actually the tips of my fingers pocking thru my gloves to navigate my camera).

Hi Rick: I am trying different things out there on the court. I have two basketball games this afternoon and night myself. This gym is one of the worst, so we shall see what I can get away with. I do get a lot of motion blur so that just goes with the shoot. I would rather delete a bunch than have Jim say something. So far the past 5 galleries no problem with him. He hates high iso and my D500 for bb.
I think the last couple of games I was shooting at 1/500 to 1/640 but the iso was better. What can you do.
Good luck on your shoot tonight.
Jules

Nice shots Jules. That D4 looks like it is working great for you. I shot 2 games Wednesday night and am getting ready to shoot 2 games tonight. Then possibly 2 games on Saturday. Getting busy. Will post some in the next couple of days. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year celebration.

Thanks a lot. The D4 is working, I just have to get use to a little slower focus. It is much better than the D500 in many respects.
Happy New Year to you too.
