Welcome to the HOG!
Consider Paint Shop Pro from Corel, I found it easier to learn than Adobe products, Bob.

His Sue, welcome. I recommend taking a class or two from your local college or adult education. Or through your local camera shop. There is no substitute for in person education. I teach a beginners class at the local college. My students really get a jump start on photography through these classes. If you go Apple with the M1 chip, I highly recommend the free onboard Apple Photos program. If you have a iPhone it's the same program but more extensive and easy to use.

Hi everyone , I have a d500 Nikon camera bought a few years ago with a few lenses, I would really love to master it. I am going to get a new computer mainly for photography - any suggestions welcome, also can anyone suggest a good processing easy to use program - not photoshop . Looking forward to being a member of this forum.

I use Smart Photo Editor, easy to learn, not expensive, can download it online and has much to offer in features.

First, make sure you’re computer savvy. Second, I would recommend Photoshop Elements for editing, about $70, no subscription, easy to learn.

Welcome to the UHH, Sue. I too, would suggest Photoshop Elements. Along with that, look for a copy of one of the more recent copies of Scott Kelby's books on using PSE. I do not think he has put one out for a few years but many of the procedures are applicable to current versions of the app. As an example, I use PSE 2019 and many of the procedures I have learned are from the 2015 edition of the Kelby book.

Welcome to the forum Sue. For post-processing software, take a look at Affinity Photo.

Try Nikon's software. Go to your country's Nikon site for the downloads. I have used Nikon USA in the past.
