Why You Should Consider Abandoning Full Frame and APS-C and Go for Something More Extreme
The Pentax 645 has been around for a while and is quite competetive price wise with many top full frame cameras and not much larger. Of course the lenses a a little larger but are readily available an relatively reasonably priced.
The Canon M series cameras are almost as small as a micro 4/3 and are APS-C. They make a fine travel camera and as a bonus can use all the EF lenses with an adapter.
I moved from a 8mm movie camera to a 35mm film SLR in 1970 because the movie camera had a small item break and I was able to repair it to continue functioning. However I found the still camera was much more to my liking and the resulting photos were as satisfying/gratifying as the movies and much easier to review. I guess I got accustomed to the feel of a SLR with interchangeable prime lenses quite quickly and use of the movie camera declined to non use.
The result is, I have used the SLR 35mm version for just over fifty years now and do not see myself making any change to a different format. I changed from full frame (film) to digital APS-C easily because it did not really seem that different from film. I can't envision myself going to FF or 4/3 or even mirrorless just because it is the current fad, most talked about or newest style. I like the feel of my Pentax K=x and K-70 cameras. They are most reminiscent of my original SLR, Petri FT, and Pentax K1000.

This guy comes from a beautiful part of the UK which I know well. Having studied his website I see nothing to make me want any equipment that he recommends. Hardly a sharp photo in sight. I get much better results with my Canon DSLRs (FF & APS-C), although I will probably move to mirrorless when I next upgrade.
"the more attractive 'modern' look that even Nikon has finally embraced with the Z fc" ???? what is this guy smoking?
I use only full frame because??? Because it's Full not cropped nor just Medium. It's the format all others are measured by. You heard the 35mm focal length equivalent. You don't hear 6x6 focal length equivalent. Oops but none of the Medium format digital are 6x6 any way.
