Had a tight schedule and lots to do in the City, also very cold, so a rare trip without a camera - something I always regret. Anyway we stopped for lunch at a very nice little place called Bin 110. Been there before, hard to classify, somewhere between Wine Bar with food and Brasserie. Pleasant venue, cheerful staff and good food. My wife had a very attractive Chicken, artichoke, cheese, etc. sandwich that had been pressed. Now I can do it with a griddle and a skillet, but this was nice and very neatly done. Even though I resist adding to the legion of small, single purpose appliances, this may be a necessity. Any experience based suggestions? (I had a Cajun Mac and Cheese with Andouille sausage. Great choice on a cold day and a Margin gift!)

A while back I found one of these in a thrift store for $5. But I dropped the top on concrete and it broke in half. It made great sandwiches, though I wonder if I might have liked a flat one better. . . I would look on eBay or Craigslist for something like it.

If you want electric - there are some good options here:

Thanks - went to the Lodge site, they still have similar, plus others. Rather than another electric appliance, which I was considering, a Panni set and my induction burner will do the trick! Discovered that they have cast iron loaf pans! I wonder if your lid might not be guaranteed? They are a family owned company.

I have the Cuisinart Griddler that I frequently use. It comes with flat plates too. So it is more than a sandwich press. I have made pancakes on the flat plates.

While I like my electric Panini Press, it is a PITA!! Gets used once a year because using and cleaning it is not fun.
Alas!! That pic on the Lodge pan and the press just gave me a jolt with a similar set I already have - without the ridges!! ...Whooohoo! Thank you for that, Gene51!

I no longer have it. But that's a good thought for the next time I drop it. :)

Haven't made sausage in a while but have seasoning for a couple of kinds and seasoning recipes for a couple of others in the messy cookbook. Except for those that are also smoked (don't have a smoker) works well.
One rare (I think) cast iron piece I have is a Griswold #8 New American Waffle Iron. Haven't used it in a while - electric is easier, but it works well. If you don't have one and are interested in seeing it, I'll PM you detailed photos.

Bought the Lodge panni set, one of their bread pans and a Pizza Pan to replace one I've had since college - talk about battle scars! They have some good end of year deals and at a certain level, free shipping if you need some Iron.

I had to look, I couldn't remember the name, I have a Breville, I have had it for 10 yrs I use it 2 or 3 times a year for making "Rubins" at gatherings I have a good system and can really turn them out, this grill has served me well and maintains the temp well. I will post pictures on a new post.

Yes thanks send a picture always like looking at iron both shootin or cooking. I'll look it up in my Griswold & Wagner #5 edition if it's in there.
