To convert raw to fine

Unfortunately I took a series of pictures in raw instead of fine. I now know a little about jpeg. When I went to Walgreens to develop my pictures the ones under raw did not come up on the screen even though they are on my scandisk. Is there anyway of getting these pictures to be exposed to be printed, Thanks

Details are needed. Your camera either came with software on a CD that can process the RAW or you can visit the vendor's website and download the free software. Once installed, the camera's software will tend to pick up the in-camera settings and can run a batch conversion to JPEG using those settings.

On a Nikon, use the retouch menu:
NEF processing - ensure that all the settings are the way you want them;
Click on EXE. Voila!

I think the key word here is "Walgreens" for printing. Walgreen's may not have their machine set to read or process RAW files. I would suggest you download the photos to your computer and then save them as .jpg, return them to your memory card and then try getting them printed at Walgreen's. Or try a different printing service.

Do you do any editing of your photos on a computer using a photo editor? I suspect no if you're just shooting pictures and having Walgreens print them. Typical photo editors can open RAW files and save them as jpegs. The only problem I see is that RAW files don't have the jpeg settings that are normally applied in your camera, so you have to tweak things like the color balance, sharpness etc. before you save them. Do you have a friend with any experience in doing this? I'm sure you don't want to spend hours figuring this out.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, especially FreddB. I did what you said and raw was changed to normal. I then went to Walgreens and the pictures were now displayed on their monitor. They printed out nicely. I could not have done this without your knowledge, thanks so much again. Happy in Queens, NYC

Walgreens printing machine are not calibrated so if the colors are not right you now know why. I assume your monitor is not calibrated and in that case a service bureau with personnel that can adjust the colors would be a better solution.
I have been very satisfied with Costco. For critical work I go to a local professional lab.

Printing labs in general prefer JPEG and the sRGB color space.

Aside from the advice given here - this might be a good time to think about exploring recording images as raw, then using a raw converter to adjust them to your liking. There are many programs out there that do a very good job, and processing a raw image into a jpeg is not as hard you might think. You may be surprised! Except for phone cameras, the last time I shot jpeg was 2006.

You can download a free program called "Instant JPEG From RAW". Just highlight all of your Raw files and right click to get the menu and select the program. It will open a menu and just select the Large size and click the "Extract" button. The program will create a folder with the extracted JPG files for you.

Raw files are just sensor data. They are not what most folks would describe as images. They need to be demosaiced and converted to another format such as TIFF or JPEG, and to a different bit depth.

Okay, that's a bit much for newbies to grasp. Simply put, you need to process the raw files to JPEGs using software on a computer, OR, if your camera is so equipped, with a menu routine on your camera.

Just know that PHOTO LABS typically do not accept anyone's raw files. They usually don't use software that can convert them. The best bet is to submit JPEGs in the sRGB color space. Most camera manufacturers offer downloadable software that can make the conversion for you.
