It used to be a tradition in the mountains of NC, where we live and were raised, that if you found a Bee-Tree, even
on someone else's property, you could mark it in some way and it was considered yours to cut down and
get the honey.
I would have to be "really" wanting some honey to cut one down without the right equipment!
They used to cut them with axe and crosscut! That's a long time to hang around swarming bees.

Don't get me started on destroying a tree and the bees' home for Honey. Isn't that what an Apiary or Bee Hive Box is for.
