Dear Steven, Thanks for the welcome. Wisconsin is a scenic state. Although maybe your "glass eye" finds beauty most anywhere. After getting notices from "Ugly Hedgehog" for some yeas, I finally decided to join. I hope there will be some interesting topics, as I have opinions. But they might not match current viewpoints. Dear Jerry, Thanks, I see you are a "very active member" and for a decade. So far, it seems we are all---old folks? But, of course one can teach "old dogs" new tricks.----Eric

Dear Bill, I just viewed your impressive website. Certainly, you are an excellent photographer. Being an engineer, you might be interested in embracing the FoveonX3 technology. Not only is there more data to work with in raw-post processing of the separate colors, but the thin construction of the three layers complements the sharpness of the lens. I have always dislike distortion. So, not a fan of "Weegie's", and I choose a focal length best fitting my intentions. I also like my Graphic View, and my Adam's type 5x7 with a Dagor lens. Although I always wanted to do "Dye Transfer" color---when still fifteen, I couldn't afford it. I photoed and process and enlarged color with the Ansco process for a special dinner at Ripon College in 1957. I had to buy a set of light compensating filters. The college students had to wait while I shot with a spotlight and floods and stationed someone at the circuit breaker to flip it back and forth until I finished! The film was not only ASA 25 as I remember, but I could only find outdoor which with a needed filter to become tungsten, cut that in half. And people complain these days?-----ew

Thanks for the Kudos Eric!
Wellll, I've become less "in depth" with many aspects of photography. I would not have an interest in the Foveon technology. Unlike many others here, I also have no interest in calibrating my monitor, using a white balance card prior to taking pictures, focus calibrating my lenses, and the like. I simply tweak my RAW files in the editor until I like them, but only images I want to print or use on the web. I don't edit everything.
Yea, film and color balancing filters were a pain. I really like being able to play with the white balance in the editor! Much simpler.
While the basics of photography (capturing an image) remain the same, the processing of images has greatly changed in the past 30 plus years.
Happy shooting.
