NGC1499_The California Nebula

Whilst Steve was demonstrating his long tube I was continuing my exploration within the constellation of Taurus.

Pointing slightly higher than M45 I was happily collecting data from the California Nebula & surrounding dust clouds.

Utilizing the Screen Mask Invert technique I began the lengthy task of processing the nebula & stars separately from the background and surrounding dust clouds before finally merging the two frames as one.

Techy Bits......
William Optics ZS61
William Optics 1.0x flattener
Altair Astro filter holder
L Pro Max filter
Altair Astro 269c pro tec
Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro
Sharpcap for PA
APT for focus, plate solve & imagining
Lights 75 285g HGC 25os 180s
Darks 5 285g 25os 180s

I've looked at several of your pictures. Sorry you can't see me genuflect in a text message.

And my quick thought was about how difficult it is to avoid light pollution in my area. Then, the long trip to get to a site like that. And the honest question if I can afford to invest in the equipment and software to do this kind of excellent work. Wonderfully done.
