Deleting Email in Spectrum

I've accumulated over 73,000 emails in my Spectrum account. I haven't been able to sign on for a while, and I tend not to go there anyway because it's so slow. I used to be a able delete RoadRunner email a page at a time. Now, it seems that I have to click on each email individually to delete it. It takes about ten seconds to complete a deletion.

Does anyone know of a quick way to delete email in Spectrum? Looking on their site, it says to click on the email and then click on Delete. With over 73,000 email, at ten seconds each, that would take quite a while.

EDIT: This is interesting. When I looked just now, there was a box labeled "From" at the top of the list. It wasn't there before, but clicking on it lets me delete a page of emails all at once.

No "Select All" button?
Emails are not individually selectable for a 'group delete'?

There is a check box next to the word From, but that often disappears. If I click on that, it selects 100 emails, and then I click on Delete. Every action takes a long time. Below is what I have now - no check box next to "From." Actually, there are no check boxes at all for me to select emails to delete.

EDIT: Now the check boxes are back.

Occasionally I have to re-load my Comcast email client to get it to delete the contents of the spam folder.
Not sure why that may be.

I no longer have Spectrum as my e-mail provider, but I used them for about 10 years. Being an Apple guy I always worked my e-mail with Apple's "Mail App." With that setup I was always able to do a "select all" and delete large quantities at a time. Still can today with that same setup using ATT and Yahoo.

I don't want to hijack your question Jerry but I am having a similar problem deleting using Mozilla. When I delete some e-mails they disappear from the screen only to pop back in a few seconds. It doesn't matter if I use the delete button in the drop down menu, the key board delete or drag it to the delete folder. Sometimes the only thing that works is to drag it to one of the junk or junk mail folders (I have several e-mail accounts). Have you seen this problem? What is the solution?

Can you Control Click, or another key combination, the top box to have the computer Select ALL the other boxes as well?

Is your email account setup set to leave mail on the server?

Are you using Thunderbird?

I use Thunderbird for e mail which is an application and not through web browser. Much quicker and can delete as many e mails as you want at a time.

Yes actually I am using Thunderbird. What puzzles me is that the deletion works for most e-mails . Only a few will not delete. Quite often they have unusual symbols in the title. I can frequently spot the ones that I will not be able to delete. I hate to think that someone may have found a way to make them undeleteable. This will lead to a mess in the future.

I use Thunderbird, as well, and Outlook and several other email clients. On all, if I wish to delete multiple emails, I click on the first and last, whíle holding the shift key so as to highlight them, and they're all gone.

Odd...
I primarily use the Comcast client, but the next time I get some junk with pictures in the subject, I'll open Thunderbird to grab them before I delete them in the Comcast client.
It will be interesting to see if I have a similar problem.
Sometimes the Comcast client will not empty the trash can. If I reload the client, it will.
But that's a different scenario than running Thunderbird. Thunderbird does not run in a browser.

Yes, it leaves email. No to Thunderbird. I use Gmail, and the Spectrum mail goes there.

Deleting mail from Spectrum is very, very slow. It takes minutes to delete a page of one hundred - if it doesn't run into a problem.

Aside from the question being directed to Toby, does your Gmail account go get your emails from Spectrum? Or are Spectrum emails forwarded to your Gmail account.
A forwarder can be set to retain emails or not.
Can Gmail be set to not delete from the Spectrum server after it downloads them?

If the forwarder or retrieval client are set to save on the server, that's probably how you wound up with a 73K emails. The clients I use are set to delete from the primary mail server once downloaded (not save).
