A field biologist showed me a Northern Goshawk nest a few years ago. One of the adults screamed at us until we left. I have heard stories of them diving on people and animals that approached too close. I got a picture and then left quickly to avoid injury.

As an old falconer, I never heard that.

Maybe that's because a goshawk is an accipiter, not a falcon?
I've heard other reports of this behavior in goshawks. They will actually "hit" people getting too close to their nest. And I saw and heard it with my own eyes and ears.

Wow!
I have been pecked by Eastern Kingbirds, and been screamed at by different hawks, but never as far as actually been touched by a Hawk.

I had more Red Hawks than falcons I had a horse ranch south of Denver, we were close to the bluffs and Peter Asborno (the bell maker) and I took alot of Prairie Falcons from there. There were goshawks on the ranch but never had any attack me; I suppose most raptors would attack if threatened or defending their nest, I know, I was flogged several times!
