Scanning Kodak Stereo Transparencies

Hello, does anyone have any experience or advice on how to scan these with an Epson V600? It's doable but tedious. I can do four at a time, but even if they're centered in the template, I don't always get a scan of the entire image.
Thank you.

I have had to do this many times.

Years ago, stereo slides were very popular in professional wedding photography. I have had many old clients wanting prints and digital slide shows from their 3-D slides. Viewing with a small binocular viewer is tedious at family gatherings and very few folks went in for stereo projection with a silver screen and difficult to view off-axis of the screen (projected) images.

I found the only way to get maximum quality scans, edge to edge is to remove the film from the cardboard or glass mounts and scan them individually. Yes, it is tedious and the problematic issue is the difficulty in finding new cardboard, plastic, or glass mounts to restore the slides to their original state.

The reward is in the results. Most of the folks kept their slides in the original cases. They are wooden or metal slide cases upholstered like wedding albums. Seem in most cases the Kodachromes held up nicely and the prints from good scans were far better than we used to get from internegatives or the old type "R" papers.

Thank you E.L. for your kind reply. I just tried your method and it definitely results in a better scan. Did you come up with an efficient method for removing the film from the cardboard mount?

Thanks Chuck, but I don't think it would work. This are a different size from 35mm slides.

The original Kodak stereo mounts were heat-sealed adhesive types. Sometimes, over the years they kinda dry up and the adhesive loses its grip and comes apart easily. If it does not, I use a razor blade to separate the mount at the corner edges and it's not too difficult to open it up from there. I avoid trying to dislodge the film by prying around the inside of the frame or aperture that is near the film.

I then use a hand blower or clean compressed air to remove any particles from the film and gently wipe down with one of those orange anti-static cloths before scanning.
