Back from Zimbabwe. These are the only wild dogs we saw. Not the greatest photos for several reasons. First too much brush and sticks. Second, I was having issues getting a sharp photo. This is with the Canon R5 and 100-500mm lens. (Accidentally set on crop mode...)
I am so open to suggestion on how to get sharper less grainy photos. I know the ISO was a little high for some, I was anticipating action... Plus it seems with the R5 I need a higher shutter speed than with the 5D4. Perhaps I over did it on the ISO?
These have all been worked on in LR and Topaz DeNoise.

Great captures of these beautiful dogs
These are painted dogs. I saw them in the same area. Your pictures turn out pretty good. Thanks for sharing
Good photos of rather lethal, "handsome in their own way" critters. I suppose if one was raised from puppyhood by humans, it would be a good dog.
Thanks for the Wild Dogs!
Outstanding. Love the lighting in the first two.
Your photos are fine. I think the high shutter speeds are pushing the high ISOs. I see no reason to use the high shutter speeds that you were using except when at the long end of your zoom.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, Photolady. This is a very good series. But you brought up a point that annoys the hell out me everytime I am guilty of it:
“ … set on crop mode.”
As mainly a street photographer, I have tried to train myself every morning when I grab a camera for that first outing to check ALL of its settings. I do not want to think about the number of shots I’ve missed because of something I had changed yesterday was not ready for today.
