Dear fellow ugly hedgehogs...a postscript to a question I asked last week about slideshows. I was looking for an alternative to PhotoStage, which was giving my jpeg downloads a green-blue cast. I'm still waiting from the PS techies to see if they can figure out why. So...I downloaded Ashampoo yesterday and began processing a slideshow. I get that same green-blue cast there, too. This is with both my laptop and my desktop. So...I'm thinking the problem is on my end, but not necessarily a computer issue. This does not seem to be a problem other photographers have, since I don't see much about this kind of problem. I'm attaching two photographs to show the difference between the jpeg in my file and the one that appears in my slideshows.

Thank you for whatever suggestions you might have.

Okay...I've downloaded both photographs...and they both have that green-blue tint. So it seems whenever I download a photograph and send it out, I get that color grade. Sorry. I can still use some suggestions as to why this is happening? I'm grateful for any suggestions.

What color space are you using to process photos and then to export, save, make the slide show? You might want to stay in SRGB for consistency.

Without posting we can't tell if there is any problem with your JPEG's. You said green blue tint where do you see it? On your computer only? I think it's your computer that put the tint on everything.

I don't see any difference in the downloads on my monitor. Skin tone and color looks fine. Seems like a normal lightly overcast day.

Now I see your pictures. The 2 images are the same. I think it's your monitor.

I don't see any greencast to either picture. Great shot that tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Avery, there does seem to be a bit of hue saturation. I did a quick correction to the first one. This is the result. It's subtle but there.

I tend to agree with others that the color cast you are seeing is a result of something on your end. I have painfully learned that what I see on my screen is not necessarily what others will see on theirs for there are things that effect what we see that can be attributed to:

1. Monitor color calibration.
2. Monitor brightness.
3. View angle of the monitor (tilting toward or away from the eye).
4. Ambient light and/or supplemental room lighting (light temperature and color are related to each other).
5. Color space of the image.
6. Camera color settings.
7. Operator influence (not all people see colors the same way).

Yup.

The color space in both images shows as “(unrecognized embedded color profile 'ProPhoto RGB')”.
Your display results will probably vary.
A setting in your editor maybe?

Your two images are the same. The image however displayed in UHH and the download version of the image are different. The image displayed on the UHH page has had it's ICC color space profile stripped off. It has no ICC profile and as such the colors in the photo are undefined.

When UHH forum software resizes a photo to create the image it displays in the forum it does that. Odds are your slideshow software does the same or something related to ICC color space profiles -- bad software.

To minimize the problem (minimize the color shift you're seeing) first convert your prophoto tagged images to the sRGB color space before you upload them here or use them in your slideshow software.

The illustration below shows what's happening.
