Thanks! He isn't crazy about having his picture taken so I told him to channel a "Blues Brother" - it worked!

I don't know what brand it is, only that it is quite old. Here's a close-up if that will help.

Very nice. The reason I asked is that I had a MARTIN Alto. You said it is older, but I can't tell the make. I know mine had lots of engraving also. I don't know if Martin is still made. I know the band instructor mentioned the MARTIN being the Cadillac of Saxophones at that time.

Enlarged!! It's a Selmer!

It is a Henry Selmer sax made in France.

It can be worth anywhere from $2500-$15000. Probably in the lower range.

How do I know this you ask. No. I know nothing about saxophones. Sue’s excellent photography has the information in perfect focus..and then I looked it up on google

Sue. Excellent shot as usual.

It is a Selmer, made in about 1932 based on the serial number. It was part of a series they called the "Super Sax". Specifically, it is a model known as the "cigar cutter" because of a design on the octave key. I own a couple of these and they are still very good instruments after 90 years.
