The sale price is not the greatest in that apparently a Leica lens sold for more.
That said, over 1/2 million is still a lot of money.

Every now and then we see one of these trade hands. In today's Impulse-Spending prices skyrocket simply because two (or more) fat cats each want something and money is NO objective. This happens in car auctions quite frequently also. Problems using the 1200mm include its weight. My 800mm weighs in at 9.9 lbs. but the extra 400mm of the 1200mm add 28 pounds! I would like to see one person try to mount this lens on a tripod. B&H had one listed several years ago. They made a video of two men shooting across the NYC harbor. It was "street photography" from a mile away! There is no substitution when needed, but 36 pounds is a lot of dead weight to lug around. If price is important this lens is not for you, or me.
