Oh wow. Thank you, I really enjoyed those. I lived in San Rafael, and that areas was a favorite of mine. My sons and I used to camp at Cassini Ranch, and paddle kayaks out the Russian to the mouth of the river where I loved to hang with the otters. Now i am in Oregon, and though there’s many wonders here, Goat Rock beach, and the Russian River will always be on my top 5 list.
I’m glad these brought back great memories for you. I’ve been to this place a few times but generally go to beaches a little closer. This is one of the few with more wildlife varieties. I keep hoping to see a sea otter in the wild. Maybe one day if I go back often enough. Usually there are a lot more seals. It could be they were hidden behind a dune. There’s a really good viewing area on the bluff just north of Jenner where you can see more of the beach and the favorite seal resting spots, but I chose not to go up there on this trip. The total drive time from home was a little over an hour. My return trip was along the river via Hwy 116 to Sebastopol.
