or why I didn't have birds in my yard most of the day Tuesday.
Most of the day only a couple of birds and no doves. Hummingbirds-Yes. Then around 3:55PM this young hawk landed on the old swing set/playhouse, kept changing positions to look over the yard, flew down to the feeders and water dishes. Moved from one to another, splashed a lot of water out of one after setting with its tail in the water for a while. Had bees buzzing around its head enough to cause it to keep jerking its head around then flew off and it must have gone elsewhere because the small birds and doves starting coming for their pre-sundown feeding.
This was the preparation to go down to land on the water dish.
For those who don't know the yellow eyes and vertical pattern on the chest shows it is a young bird. Adult birds the eyes are Orange/Red and the chest pattern is horizontal.

From tripod at about 60-65' in shade from low sun at 3:58 from the right. I had to bring up the exposure because the white paint on the wooden tilted the Auto ISO too low.
