Beautiful photo. I've been around lots of Hyacinths but never saw one (even an immature) with that much yellow on the face. It's usually just a yellow eye ring. Could this one be a cross between a Hyacinth and a Blue & Gold?

Could be. I really didn't think about that. But you can see that there are blue pin feathers growing in the yellow patch on the face. I'm sure that will continue as he/she gets older.

I expect the yellow tint to the face is a result of my post, possibly over saturated a bit. I will reprocess and see how it comes out.

I really don't think it's a result of your post. I also don't think it's a juvenile because of the beak and the skin on the feet. I truly think that most of us have just not ever seen the skin under the feathers on the head and just didn't dream it might be yellow. Looks like he may have lost some feathers and they are trying to grow back. That's my guess and I'm stickin' to it.

Looks like you are right, here is the shot straight out of the camera (sort of) I develop my RAWs in Capture One 21. This is simply a default auto adjust and exported to JPG, so the yellow is not my fault in this case - LOL... I do see a significant amount of motion blur, which Topaz Sharpen AI took care of in the original post.

Thanks for posting anyway. Again, I think most of the yellow will be filled in with blue feathers by the time he's finished. I used to be the Curator of Birds at a small Texas Zoo. Volunteer but a lot of fun! We had several Macaws including Hyacinths. I think the Cockatoos were my favorites but I loved all the Parrots, especially.

The original is really nice too!
Looks like this taught us both something. I have been around birds since the day I was born (in 4 days that will be 84 years) and I never knew that the yellow skin around the eyes and under the lower mandible was also on the face under all those blue feathers. Now it makes me wonder why he lost the face feathers, but glad to see he's growing new ones in.
