We went hiking the other day on the Columbia Mtn trail not very far from the house and we noticed 2 black rabbits that someone dropped off...ticked me off! So we went back there today after we unloaded some firewood and was able to capture 1 of the rabbits...only saw 1...couldn't find the other.

This little guy was very nervous to start with but he is adapting nicely to it's new home in the barn. We have a hole already from a critter a few yrs ago under the tack room and I let him loose right at the hole and zoom..he went under the shed.

He only spent about 15 minutes under the shed and has since been coming out and wondering around eating grass, lettuce and some grapes I left for him.

He's so cute. We will go back every evening for the next couple of days and see if we can find the other one...if not a coyote probably got him already.

Thanks everyone for commenting...he has stuck around yesterday and today so we plan on fixing him up a little house tomorrow and get some straw in there to help keep him warm this winter, we still have a bale of hay - so that will feed him pretty good till spring.

A rabbit can turn hay into pellets in a short time especially when cold.

I bet! We have never had a rabbit...the one that was out there a few yrs ago just showed up one day ...don't know where he came from and he just ate the hay we put out for the horses. But since we no longer have the horses..guess this new little guy will benefit from my leftover hay

Thanks...I hope so too. This little guy has been visiting the neighbors on both sides of us for the past couple of days...he's starting to make friends with the kids next door.
