After three years of not making it out West due to my friends bout with cancer and my building a new home, Sam and I finally made it back to Colorado! The images that follow were taken as we started up Grand Mesa, took a side road to Lost Lake, and then continued along Kebler Pass on our way to Mt. Crested Butte. Not knowing what we might encounter with the smoke haze that drifted into Colorado for much of the summer and the potential for wildfires from the drought, we enjoyed clean air, only scattered clouds, and a beautiful start to the autumn golds. It was so good to be back outdoors, camera in hand, and my buddy in good health to share the adventure with.
Grand Mesa's north face was bursting with color.

Glad you liked the series, Jim! We traveled Sept. 19-28, which might have been a bit too early, so we were delighted to have the color we did. Back home now going through hundreds of RAW images...it takes a while.

Thanks! It was the luck of the draw, so to speak, as guessing a date 9 months ahead is pretty iffy, lol!
