I was just playing around taking a few shots of my new ballhead with mounted Canon. Sigma DP2 Merrill was handy and once again I am amazed by the resolution of this fixed 30mm lens...

What's Foveon have to do with it?

Foveon is the sensor in the Sigma Merrill camera.

They shoot only their own version of raw but are capable of rendering remarkable color and clarity.

I don't see what you see. Maybe because the dynamic range in this shot is extremely low. And why the monochrome colorizing of the image if the Foveon sensor is tuned to produce more discreet colors?

This particular image, other than in depicting sharp camera detail, is not a prime example of the system's capabilities. Search sigma foveon images online, you'll likely be amazed.

Taken with a Foveon based sensor... subject matter was just there... Just trying to showcase some of the Merrill's assets.

Nice, sharp Sigma Foveon shot of your new ballhead and Canon on tripod. Wish the shot was in color.
