[quote=davidrb]You may regret selling your 70-200mm f/4.0. It is a very versitile lens that has very distinct applications. Might be the best $500.00 lens on the market today. Very light-weight and semi-long, it is capable of producing great images. /quote]
I've had the f4 for years and I agree with the above. It's my go to lens when I need some reach and top IQ. If my emphsis is on reach, I use a 70-300 with a 2.0 Ext. Never needed anything lomger than that and IQ is acceptable - at least to me. Of course, my photos are for me, nobody else. Harry

Ironically, the OG poster never mentioned he would sell his lens.

I was just quoting. The thrust of my post was to agree with the evaluation of the f4.0. I think it is an excellant lens and certainly a bargain at it's price point. If I was selling lens, that would probably be the last one to go. Given my interests, I seldom need more than 200 mm. I shoot bird dog field trials from horseback and could probably use a manageable 35-400 lens with decent IQ. Any body got one? Harry
Tamron 150-600mm lens with EOS Canon mount. That's your next purchase. Keep the 70-200mm lens. That's a F 2.8 low light lens and it is always good to have that in your bag. If you're shooting landscape photos, you will eventually want to invest in a Super wide angle lens of your choice. Maybe a Tamron or a Tokina.
